And just to add for any non-ringers, if your local tower does have enough ringers, there may still be towers nearby who don't and would appreciate your help. Quite often towers in towns help out ringing in the village churches (and vice versa!) and with this being on a fixed time there may still be a need for your help. Nearly all the towers in the Bicester branch need more bell ringers and would welcome you with open arms.

Just to add that Bletchingdon was also involved from the Bicester branch. The four groups covered:

- Plain Hunt
- Bob Doubles & minor
- Grandsire Doubles
- Triples & Major

I was one of the helpers at the morning session of those learning Plain Hunt and thought the 6 learners' enthusiasm was contagious. The 1 1/2 hour session started with rounds so everyone got the feel of the bells and then the helpers rang Bistow or Bastow so that the learners got used to ringing to 2nds place first of all and subsequently to 3rds place and so on. A very good way of teaching I thought.

At Islip we rang from 1.45pm for about 30 minutes - call changes - and had comments from those at the Lower Street party that it was lovely to hear the bells ringing in celebration.

Yes, Middleton were a little tricky, but we are mostly spoilt by our nice, easy going bells. I will try to find easier ones next year :)
